Human Biology- Basics and Facts  Everyone Should Know

El problema está en el corazón (I) - Forum Libertas

Biology is the study of life and is used in all fields. It also deals with different exciting aspects of the earth. We learn about life, different types of diseases, their causes, scientists with their inventions, organisms and many other aspects of life on planet earth.

Biology conveys about different species, including extinct and present, along with their habitat and behaviour. It is a natural science that is concerned with studying living organisms around us and is valuable to know biology basics that keep our body working.

What Is Human Biology?

Human biology is an excellent, important, and mind-boggling topic that explains various complex processes carried out by different cells, tissue, and organs. There are a bunch of facts about human anatomy, physiology, human health, disease, nutrition, etc.

Let us learn more in detail about the basics and facts related to human biology.

Human Biology- Basics

Our body consists of 12 organ systems that work together to ensure the proper functioning of our body. The 12 organ systems include:

  • The endocrine system is responsible for producing hormones directly into the bloodstream, regulating our body’s growth and development.
  • The cardiovascular system is involved in transporting blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughout the body.
  • The immune system is the defence mechanism of our body that acts against invading pathogens.
  • The digestive system is responsible for converting the food molecules with other essential nutrients into the body’s energy.
  • The muscular system helps in locomotion, maintaining posture, and blood circulation all over the body.
  • The integumentary system acts as a protective barrier from the external environment by preventing the entry of diseases causing pathogens.
  • The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs, a part of the circulatory system and the immune system. The lymphatic system forms a vital part of the body’s immune system. and helps defend against bacteria and other intruders.
  • The nervous system transmits signals in the body and controls both voluntary and involuntary actions.
  • The respiratory system is completely involved in the respiration process that consists of the intake of oxygen and exhales of carbon dioxide.
  • The reproductive system is mainly involved in the reproduction process and plays a primary role in the survival of the species.
  • The skeletal system is a basic framework of our body and it is the combination of all the bones and tissues. This system is also involved in locomotion and providing support and shapes to the body.
  • The excretory system: The specialized system involved in the removal of waste products produced by the body.

Human Biology- Facts

  • We are born with 300 bones which are fused 206 and there are around 38 trillion cells in the human body.
  • Human teeth are almost hard as rocks and it is the only body part that cannot repair itself.
  • Respiration is a biochemical process which is carried out by all living organisms for their survival. The reaction of respiration is the reverse of photosynthesis. The oxygen which we inhale during respiration is a by-product of photosynthesis.
  • The human nose functions similar to air conditioning as it filters the air we breathe in and cools and warms up the inhaled air.
  • The muscular tissue is specialized tissue, which is involved in controlling the movement of an organism. Contractibility, elasticity, excitability and extensibility are four properties of muscular tissue.
  • The only body organ with no blood supply is the cornea in the eye and it receives oxygen directly from the air.
  • Human Blood is thicker than water and a single drop of blood contains 250 million blood cells. There are four blood groups: A, B, AB, and O type and it is determined by the presence and absence of antigens and antibodies
  • The liver is the largest gland in the human body which performs over 500 functions to keep our body healthy.
  • A human brain is filled with 80% of water and it works more complicated during the night while we are asleep than during the day while we are awake. Thus we burn more calories while sleeping than when we are awake.
  • There are ten times more bacteria cells in our body that are harmless. These bacteria are involved in performing a significant role in different bodily functions.

Thus, we have seen a few interesting facts and basic information about human biology. For more related facts and other information about human biology.
